VANCOUVER, BC – Alti-tech Engineering Inc., a high-tech company specializing in the design and development of extended run-time solutions, has partnered with Ecodrive Technology Group Inc. to develop commercially available lithium-ion (Li-ion) powered electric motorcycles.

By replacing the standard Sealed Lead Acid (SLA) battery with the latest LiFePo₄ Li-ion technology, the battery weight will be reduced by 50% and will allow for faster acceleration and longer travel distances. The average charge will provide a range increase of approximately 50%. The new technology also enjoys a much longer lifespan, with batteries lasting up to 5 years in the motorcycle – roughly a three-fold increase.

The capacities of the Li-ion battery and the SLA battery are almost the same, but the Li-ion battery allows the capacity to be used in its entirety whereas a complete discharge would be damaging to the SLA battery.

Alti-tech's new charging technology and battery monitoring systems will be implemented in such a manner that will allow for the retrofitting of existing electric motorcycles. The high-performance features of the Li-ion battery will allow owners to further enhance the competitive advantages of their electric vehicles in the transportation marketplace.
